Always Connected: Let's Be Friends | Daily Fast Fuel

That?s an email you?ll never see. Jesus definitely wants to be your friend, but status updates on your wall or a tag in your photo album could never be enough. I?d venture to say He?d never be satisfied to be one of the many friends who peruse your posts since He wants to be THE one friend you live to pursue. We?d never build a relationship with Him based on those kinds of cursory encounters. A real connection requires our commitment, our attention and our time.

We have to be careful. It could be very easy for us to buy into the notion that friends are people we barely know, barely remember, barely see or barely got along with when we did see them. We have adapted to such a loose definition of the term ?friend,? that I fear it will begin to shape our real life friendships and foster an even lazier approach to building relationships. If we are to stay connected to Jesus (and the important people in our lives), the Facebook approach to friendship will never do. So, let?s do better than the quick hello, the 60 second chat (or the obligatory Facebook birthday wishes) and put in the effort and energy required to build friendships that will last.

?So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend...? Exodus 33:11
